SABLE HOUR Wine bar & kitchen Reserve

A wine bar built for the blue hour.

Natural wine, stirred drinks and small plates on Water Street. Open tonight 4-11, kitchen until 10:30.

4.8 average from 310+ reviews (sample)

Twelve tables, sixteen stools and a list of wines we drink ourselves. Come early for the light and stay for the second glass.

A room made for slow evenings.

Sable Hour opened in 2014 in an old ship chandlery on Water Street. Ines and Theo Marr run the floor and the kitchen, buy every bottle themselves and keep the lights low and the music lower.

The kitchen

Small kitchen.
Long list.
No rush.

Theo cooks on two burners and a wood grill. The menu stays short so everything on it is good, and it changes when the farm stand does.

We came in for one glass before dinner and never left. The trout, the cold Gamay, the light through that window. Best night of the trip.

  • The bartender asked what we liked and made something that wasn't on the list. Perfect.

  • We booked the back room for my mother's 70th. They handled everything, down to the candles.
