From first walk to first bloom

Most gardens take six to ten weeks from the design visit to the last plant in the ground.

  1. Design visit

We walk the yard with you, test the soil and note where the sun lands and where the water goes.

  2. Plan and price

A scaled drawing, a planting list and a fixed price, phased if you’d rather build over two seasons.

  3. Build

Our own crew lays the stone, sets the lighting and runs the irrigation. No subcontractors.

  4. Planting

Plants go in when the weather is right for them, usually spring or fall, mulched and watered in.

  5. Second-year check-up

We come back after the first full year to replace anything that didn’t take, at no charge.

Made by a small crew

Rosa Delgado started Fern & Field in 2009 with a pickup truck and ten years of nursery work behind her. The name is the two halves of most Northwest yards: the shady side where ferns are happy, and the open side that wants sun.

Today the crew is eleven people, and the person who draws your plan is on site when it’s built.
