Eskela
Law
Wills, trusts, probate and family law for households across Jefferson County, explained in plain English.
Our approach
Most legal problems are family problems first. We start there, and we write everything down.
You'll know the fee, the next step and who is doing the work, before you sign anything.

Five kinds of work, one small office.
01Wills & trusts
Wills, living trusts, powers of attorney and health care directives. Flat fee from $1,200, signed in one visit.
02Probate
We guide the personal representative from the first filing to the final distribution, usually in 6-9 months.
03Family law
Divorce, parenting plans and support. Settled out of court when we can, argued in court when we have to.
04Elder law
Guardianship, Medicaid planning and care decisions for a parent, with the whole family in the room.
05Mediation
A neutral session for two sides who would rather agree than litigate. Half or full days, here or by video.
How a matter moves, from the first call to the last signature.
-
Thirty minutes, by phone or at the office. You tell us what happened; we tell you honestly if you need a lawyer.
-
A one-page letter with the steps, the timeline and the fee. Flat where we can, an estimate where we can't.
-
We draft, file and negotiate. You get a short update every Friday, even when the news is "still waiting."
-
We walk you through every signature, file the final papers and keep a copy of everything for you.

A small office on purpose: the lawyer you meet is the lawyer who does the work.
Maren Eskela opened the office in 2009 after eight years at a Seattle firm. Theo Lund joined in 2019 and runs the family law side.
Both licensed in Washington and admitted in the U.S. District Court, Western District of Washington.

Mediation saved us a year of court. We left with a parenting plan we both signed, and we both actually follow it.
